What is self-storage?
Selfstorage is a cost effective, do-it-yourself storage solution allowing you complete flexibility in your storage requirements. We provide you with a clean, dry, safe and secure room in which to store your goods and provide a padlock to which you have the only key. It allows you the opportunity to access your goods as often as you like during our extensive opening hours without any additional cost. Once you rent the space you can add or remove items at your own convenience.

Are my belongings safe?
Our selfstorage centre is one of the safest places your goods could be. Our intruder alarm is linked directly to the emergency services giving a response to a call within 2 minutes and the only entrances to the centre are via steel roller shutter doors which are locked when the centre is closed.

How much space will I need?
This is one of the most difficult questions to answer in selfstorage as each person has a different range of goods even in the same size home. Some people go for a minimalist approach whilst others like to retain an eclectic mix of items gathered throughout the years. With this is mind we provide two options
1. A space guide providing ranges of sizes depending on the number of bedrooms a property has. This has been compiled from historical industry data and should give a good indication of the size required.
2. An invite to visit our centre and view various units for yourself. It is much easier for people to visualise how much space they’ll need when they see the size of the various units.

Can I change my unit size?
Yes, is the short answer, as selfstorage is completely flexible, so if you need additional space at a later stage you can move your goods to a bigger unit and you only pay the price of the new unit from the date you move, there are no other costs and you can use the padlock previously issued.

You can also downsize if needed and the same conditions will apply.

How long or short a period can I hire for?
As long as you want is again the simple answer. Self storage is completely flexible and we only require one week’s notice when you intend to vacate. Our standard terms do require a minimum of 2 weeks however we could accommodate a shorter time period if necessary.

How do I pay?
We accept all standard forms of payment - cash, cheque, credit & debit cards and you can either bring payment directly to the storage centre, send in your payment through the post (please remember not to send cash through the post), or you can phone with credit/debit card details. We can also offer a standing order facility and will soon be offering a web based payment system so you can log into the internet and pay over the worldwide web.

How will I know when my rental is due?
We have a fixed charging period so that we charge all our customers monthly at the same time. We can provide you with a note of our charging dates when you sign your licence agreement, however we will also send you an invoice each month (please remember our terms are monthly in advance).

What about Insurance?
We offer insurance through Royal & Sun Alliance who, through their broker OPUS Corporate Risk, specialise in the self storage insurance market. They provide you with an ALL RISKS cover for your goods whilst they are in storage to give you the peace of mind your home contents insurance would give you at home.

Storage 4 U is not responsible for damage to the goods whilst in store and we therefore strongly recommend customers take up the option of insurance cover which is available at a small additional cost. e.g. Covering goods valuing £3,000 would cost £2.02 per week for All Risks coverage.

How do I get my stuff to store?
Again this is entirely your choice. You can organise a removal company to deliver it for you, you can rent a van from a local rental company or you can use your own transport, whatever is the best solution for your particular needs.

Can I purchase packing materials?
We will soon have our packing materials shop open at our main reception and this will allow to purchase almost anything you require for packing purposes. You will be able to choose from, Sofa covers, Mattress covers, Bubble wrap, Packing Tape, Various sized boxes, Packing paper, Marker pens, Labels, Gloves and a whole lot more.
